Trip Overview
Our 8 Days Cultural Expedition Trip in Beijing & Shanghai gives tourists the opportunity to see Chinese culture up close and immerse themselves in two of the world’s greatest cities, Beijing and Shanghai. Tourists will see many interesting sites while in Beijing including the Summer Palace, the Temple of heaven, the Ming Tomb, the Forbidden City and of course, Tiananmen Square. While the Shanghai portion of the expedition includes a visit to the Shanghai Museum, Yuanyuan Garden as well as the famous water town, Wuzhen.
Day 1 Arrival Beijing – Forbidden Cit
Upon arrival in Beijing, you will meet your guide and head south to the residence of the emperors for nearly five hundred years, the Forbidden City. Built in the Ming Dynasty between the 4th and the 18th years of the Yongle period (1406 – 1420 AD), the Forbidden City features many of the original buildings which have been restored to their original state.
Day 2 Great Wall + Ming Tombs
Day 2, we visit the Great Wall and the Ming Tombs, two very important historical sites in Chinese culture. First stop, the Mutianyu section of The Great Wall, where portions are over 2500 years old. Tourists will dine at the bottom of Mutianyu Great Wall before visiting the Ming Tombs, where Emperor Yongle (the first emperor in Beijing) and his Empress Xu were buried. Then visit Sacred Road before returning to the center of Beijing city.
Day 3 Beijing Highlights
trip to the Beijing Zoo starts the day followed by a transfer to the Summer Palace, an expansive park containing ancient Chinese traditional architecture and arts.
Day 4 Beijing Highlights
We visit the Temple of Heaven, built in 1420 as a venue for the Ming and Qing emperors to offer sacrifices to the Heaven and pray for harvest. Then enjoy a Hutong rickshaw tour where you will experience Chinese culture close up and visit Lotus Market in the Houhai area. In the afternoon, we visit the Lama temple, one of the best-preserved lamasery in existence in China today.
Day 5 798 Art District – Acrobatic Show – Shanghai
We visit the 798 Art District, a modern art zone built on the site of an electronics factory which was built using Soviet and East German aid in the 1950’s. Tourists will view some of the local and regional art as well as see an acrobatic show before transferring to Shanghia.
Day 6 Shanghai City Tour
Day 6, we visit the Orie Peal Tower and Xintiandi Bar street as well as Yu Garden, one of the most famous gardens in China and is national heritage listed. We also visit The Bund, or Zhongshan Road, a Famous waterfront and regarded as the symbol of Shanghai for hundreds of years.
7 Shanghai – Wuzhen-Shanghai
From Shanghai to Wuzhen, where we visit a wine making plant and local printing workshop. After that, we will visit a local folk culture museum and take a cruise in Chinese gondolas.
