Our 14 Day Adventure School Trip in China enables students to experience that many natural and cultural aspects of China and how they relate to each other and the rest of the world. From Beijing, Sanjiang and Yangshuo, to Longsheng and more, this tour is sure to educate, entertain and inspire today’s students.
Day 1 Arrival Beijing
Upon arrival in Beijing, you will meet your guide, travel to your hotel and be briefed about the upcoming events.
Day 2 Beijing Highlights
Day 2 begins early with a trip to the Temple of Heaven where we will experience Chinese culture through Tai Chi, or Taijiquan in Chinese. Then we follow in the footsteps of emperors as we head to the Forbidden City and experience hundreds of years of Chinese history and culture before visiting the Summer Palace. With beautiful Chinese classical landscape gardening and a wide range of halls, pavilions, corridors and pagodas, the Summer Palace offers students a look into the Chinese elite culture.
Day 3 Huanghuacheng – Xishuiyu
On Day 3, we hike westward towards Xishuiyu where we climb a steep, yet passible, trail that takes us to the watchtower which offers breathtaking views of the region below. We continue on our ascent until we reach the highest point in the region and take in views of the entire valley below us. We then begin our descent into the valley, hiking westward to a tall cliff overlooking Xishuiyu Lake.
Day 4 Jiankou – Mutianyu Great Wall
The final day of trekking takes us to the Jiankou section of the Wall. This very picturesque trail offers many opportunities for photography and ends with a visit to the Olympic Village and the Bird Nest & Water Cube.
Day 5 798 Art District – Hutong Tour – Xi’an
Day 5 begins with a rickshaw tour to Hutong to experience the life of common people in Beijing. Then we visit the Lotus Market, and see old hutong, modern bars, a Beijing drum show and experience Chinese traditional art. Then we will visit 798 Art District where students will see modern art set in an ancient backdrop from another era in time.
Day 6 Xi’an
Day 6 includes a visit to the Qin Terra-cotta Warriors and the Forest of Stone Steles Museum. We will have plenty of time to explore and enjoy these two important Chinese cultural sites before driving back to Xian city.
Day 7 Xi’an – Guilin
From Xian to Guilin as we visit the visit Shanxi History Museum, before biking on the Old City Wall. We will also visit Gao’s Grand Courtyard, the Great Mosque and the old street, where you can enjoy the ancient Shadow Poppy show.
Day 8 Guilin – Sanjiang
On Day 8, students will visit a Panda breeding program at Seven Star Park before embarking on a trip to visit the Sun and Moon Pagodas. Then, we are off to Sanjiang where students can relax with a view of the Wind and Rain Bridge.
Day 9 Sanjiang
We visit the Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge (Fengyu Qiao) and take a short, 2-3 hour, hike around the Dong villages and experience the local culture and activities available.
Day 10 Sanjiang – Longsheng
On Day 10, we climb up to Ping’an village which has served as a traveler hub for centuries. We will visit a farming village that will give students a closer look at local agriculture.
Day 11 Longsheng
We will hike from Ping’an Zhuang’s Village to Dazhai via Tiantouzha, visiting the famous Longji Rice Terraces along the way. Students will experience rural life and the beautiful Dragon Backbones rice terraces where they will have an opportunity to take photographs and create lasting memories of this very special place.
Day 12 Longsheng – Yangshuo
Day 12 is a rest day which includes a transfer from Longsheng to Yangshuo.
Day 13 Yangshuo
At Yangshuo, we will cycle country roads, lanes and tracks through the paddy field and orchards before hiking up Moon Hill for a breathtaking view of the city. Then, we will kayak to ancient LiuGong village before driving back to Guilin.
Day 14 Guilin -Shanghai
Morning flight to Shanghai, then international flight back to Canada. End of the tour.
